Coastal Works, Seawall Remediation & Rock Revetment in NSW

Why Coastal Protection Matters

Coastal erosion is hitting hard right across NSW. Councils, land managers, and communities are all dealing with shorelines washing away, damaged assets, and storm events getting worse every year. The only real solution is to build coastal protection that lasts — seawalls, rock revetments, and foreshore stabilisation works that can stand up to the conditions.

That’s where BEEP comes in. We’re specialists in rock revetment design and construction, building durable seawalls and erosion control works that protect foreshore areas, infrastructure, and communities. Our crews are used to working in tight foreshore sites, around tides, and in sensitive environments.

Our Coastal, Seawall & Rock Revetment Experience

We’ve delivered a string of coastal projects across NSW, each with its own challenges with recent large scale projects including:

  • Canton Beach Seawall – $365,000
Construction of a sandstone block seawall below AHD 0.5 to protect public foreshore along Tuggerah Lake.

  • Flood Levee Remediation, Comerong Island – $1.6 Million
Large-scale rock revetment works stabilising eroded riverbanks in highly sensitive areas.

  • Tuncurry Breakwater Rock Revetment – $95,000
BEEP completed rock placement and seawall repairs for MIDO at Tuncurry Breakwater, adding armour rock and reinstating sections of the revetment to strengthen and protect the structure.

  • South Tacoma Revetment – $112,695
BEEP delivered revetment works for Central Coast Council at South Tacoma, supplying and placing rock to reinforce the foreshore and protect against further erosion.

  • Newcastle Beach Emergency Rock Breaking – $22,000
Rapid rock-breaking and stabilisation works on a hazardous cliff face above Bathers Way. Mobilised within days to make safe for public access.

  • The Entrance Sand Works – $168,000
BEEP deployed multiple large excavators and dozers onto the sand at The Entrance to open the channel under Central Coast Council’s direction, restoring tidal flow and reducing flood risk to the surrounding community. Additional sand bags were installed at the North Entrance carpark to armour the foreshore against future erosion.

  • Swansea Heads Breakwall Rock Revetment – $172,000
BEEP carried out major rock revetment works for MIDO at Swansea Heads, placing armour rock and rebuilding sections of the breakwall to stabilise the structure and protect the coastline from ongoing erosion.

Every job has required tight planning, specialised plant, and a mix of technical know-how with environmental care.

Compliance & Environmental Care

Our coastal works are built to council and NSW coastal engineering standards, but we don’t just stop at the wall or revetment itself. We put the right controls in place to protect the foreshore and waterways while the job’s underway:

  • Erosion & Sediment Controls – silt curtains, coir logs, geofabric underlays, and regular checks against the site ESCP (Erosion and Sediment Control Plan).

  • Dewatering – controlled pump-out and discharge from excavations and trenches, with sediment traps and filters to keep water clean.

  • Bunding & Containment – bunding around stockpiles and plant to keep run-off out of the water, and spill kits always on site.

  • Rock Revetments & Sandstone Seawalls – armour rock or sandstone placed to engineering specs, designed to handle wave energy and stabilise the foreshore.

  • Cultural & Heritage Safeguards – early engagement with local Aboriginal reps, setting up ‘No Go’ zones, and following strict unexpected finds protocols.

By combining smart design with on-ground controls like dewatering, bunding, and ESC implementation, we deliver coastal protection that holds up in storms and respects the environment it sits in.

Our Process – From Planning to Finish

We keep it simple, but thorough:

  • Planning & Investigation – assess site conditions, erosion risks, tides, and access. Review the erosion and sediment control plan (ESCP) and set out measures before works begin.

  • Design & Materials – work with engineers to finalise rock sizing, wall profiles, and construction methods.

  • Access & Setup – establish safe foreshore access, install bunding and silt curtains, and set up dewatering controls where groundwater or tidal inflows need managing.

  • Foundation & Toe – excavate, lay geofabric, build the toe trench, and start placing base rock with ESC controls active.

  • Wall / Revetment Build – place armour rock or sandstone blocks layer by layer to design profile, while maintaining dewatering and bunding controls around active work zones.

  • Finishing & Make Good – backfill, stabilise with revegetation and jute mesh, remove temporary bunds and controls, and complete with signage, access points, and final tidy-up.

Local Impact

Our crews, plant, and supply chains are based across the Central Coast, the Hunter, Mid North Coast, South Coast and Western NSW. We use local quarries and local subcontractors wherever possible, keeping costs sharp and delivering benefits straight back into the communities we work in.

These works protect foreshore reserves, cultural heritage sites, public infrastructure, and private assets, giving councils and communities a long-term, low-maintenance solution to coastal erosion.

Why BEEP?

  • Specialists in rock revetments and sandstone seawalls

  • Track record with councils, NPWS and Public Works NSW

  • Experienced in complex foreshore access and environmental conditions

  • Strong focus on cultural heritage and environmental safeguards
